Vintage Scots Tam with Red Pom Pom; Grosgrain Ribbons and Bow with Dawson Bowman Celtic Thistle Pin.
I found this in an old hat box at my late in-law's home.
Box is not included.
My late mother-in-law's grandmother was born in Scotland; and, I know that my in-laws had visited Scotland many years ago. I don't know, and, no one in the family remembers, if this tam was purchased on that trip ! So, although I'm sure this is vintage, I have no idea about the actual age....Sorry :(
I don't see any moth holes and I'm fairly sure this is 100% wool, but, there is no tag to verify that guess.
The only tag is as photographed, Made in Scotland with a Thistle and the Size of 7/58.
I was told by a friend, who is an antique dealer, that this is a Dawson Bowman Pin because of the number 113 on the back of the pin.
If you happen to know that this is not a Dawson Bowman pin please let me know, and I will change the info. immediately. Pin is 1 1/2" x 2".
It is never my intention to mislead anyone, I just list info. as I have found on line or from other sources.
Additionally, as you can see, the pin is not in very good condition. It needs a through cleaning and has quite a lot of black toning/tarnish/wear on the front and back.
I don't want to try to remove it for fear of causing more damage. And, someone may want the pin as it is.
My antique dealer friend said she felt this was most probably silver plated and the wear which is shown is the plating being worn away.
So, please bid on the pin "AS IS" with the info.listed.
If you clean it and it's something wonderful, it's my loss and your gain :)
There is some fraying on the ends of the grosgrain bow and ribbon.

I ship within 24hrs. after receiving payment.  But, payment MUST be received by 11:59 PM; Monday through Friday. I cannot ship on Saturdays.  If I receive your payment anytime after 12:00AM, your item will ship within 24 hours from that time. For example, if you purchase an item at 11:45PM on Wednesday and pay for it at 12:01AM on Thursday; your item cannot be shipped until Friday.
